Announcing The Coffee Lover’s Dictionary

Almost a decade in the making because I am a very busy man. So, so busy 🤣. Also, I am a slow writer; I mean, look at the name of this website in order to ensure the highest quality facts, stories, and humor. The Coffee Lover’s Dictionary is the “indispensable small-talk tool for the modern barista and coffee-obsessed amateur.” I wrote it with all of us coffee crazies in mind, so I am sure you will like it.

Inside the Coffee Lover’s Dictionary

And this is not just a rehashing of the posts you will already find on this site. While there might be some overlap, this is all fresh material, written from the ground up for all of us coffee lovers.

  • Useful Lists, like “20 Ways to Brew Coffee” and “Top Selling Commercial Coffees”
  • Highlights in Coffee History where you will learn about Kaldi the Goatherd and Gabriel Mathieu de Clieu, the French naval officer who is responsible for bringing coffee to the “New World”
  • Professional Coffee-tasting terms like cupping and aroma
  • The Coffee Flavor Wheel and how it can help you taste coffee like a pro – it’s on the back cover!
  • Official and Traditional Coffee Roast Levels: you can learn more than just “light” or “dark”
  • Actual definitions of words described through coffee and coffee-related content. You know, tired is just another word for “not enough coffee”
  • Recipes for drinks and desserts using coffee, including award-winning Kona Coffee Haupia Pie 😋
  • Words used in sentences that illuminate subtleties in meaning or, at the very least, make a joke. And because I care, sometimes both!
  • UBOI: Useless Bits of Information – paragraphs of pop culture, trivia, or surprising information related to the word just defined
  • $MDI$: Million Dollar Ideas – business ideas that I am not going to pursue but maybe someone else will, and maybe they will give me some money
  • Charts

Timothy Bruno

Aloha! I'm Timothy Bruno (Tim to my friends and anyone who wants to buy me a cup of coffee). From 2008 to 2016, I farmed Kona coffee on the Big Island of Hawaii, which is either great or exhausting depending on how you feel about weed-whipping 12 acres on the edge of a high-altitude rainforest. These days I write about coffee, most recently in my book The Coffee Lover's Dictionary. Find the rest of my story, and my other writing, at timothybruno.com.
